Estimates and quantity/R guides, not guarantees

Results are deterministic estimates from your inputs, your prices and standard reference conventions (R = Σ thickness × R/inch; U = 1/R; required thickness = target R ÷ R/inch; bags = ceil(area ÷ coverage); board-feet = area × thickness; sheets = ceil(area ÷ 32); cost = quantity × your $/unit + labor + add-ons, ×(1 + contingency)). Real projects vary — verify measurements and figures before relying on them.

Not a bid, not a price index

Cost tools give planning estimates from your own prices, not bids or contracts, and we store no live material or labor price list, no regional cost index, no product catalog and no contractor directory. Cost bands are a labeled sanity guide only. Get itemized written quotes from licensed, insured insulation contractors.

Confirm coverage & order extra

Quantity and coverage tools give material-quantity guides. Confirm coverage-per-bag, R/inch and set yield against the exact product you buy and order a little extra (~5–10%) for framing, gaps and settling — coverage, R/inch and set yields vary by product and brand.

Labeled typicals, not a certified design

R/inch, target R, coverage-per-bag, batt coverage, set yield and cost bands are labeled industry planning typicals — confirm against your product’s data sheet and local energy code. Real performance depends on install quality, framing / thermal bridging, moisture and settling. Foam ignition / thermal-barrier, vapor / moisture control and combustion-air safety are set by the manufacturer and code — check with a professional; this site does not engineer them.

Anti-overlap: insulation R-value, quantity & cost only

This site covers residential insulation R-value, quantity and cost math only. It is not an HVAC / load-calculation tool (no heat-load, BTU, furnace, AC, heat-pump, mini-split, ductwork or Manual-J sizing — the energy-savings tool shows only a RELATIVE before/after index from your own bill); not a waterproofing / basement-sealing / drainage / radon resource (here only the THERMAL insulation of walls, crawlspaces and rim joists); not a roofing / shingle / siding / gutter resource (only attic/roofline THERMAL insulation); not a garage-door resource (only garage walls/ceiling); not a drywall / framing / general-remodel or concrete / slab / flatwork resource.

Not a fire-code, vapor-barrier or energy-audit resource

We do not provide fire-rating or code-compliance certification, engineered vapor-barrier design, or whole-house energy-audit / blower-door certification. Defer these to the product data sheet, your local energy code, and a licensed, insured contractor or a certified energy auditor.

Not an install or safety guide

Nothing here is an install procedure, a structural or engineering determination, or safety advice. Defer the professional install to a licensed, insured insulation contractor and confirm code with your local building department.
